On Wednesday, the University of Wisconsin's Population Health Institute (UWPHI) released its 12th annual rankings of the health of nearly every county in the U.S.
The UWPHI said local leaders from public health and health care, business, education, and government can use the information to improve health and well-being in their communities.
Researchers looked at nearly 250 of the 254 counties in Texas, and Collin County ranked as the state's healthiest, while Denton County came in just behind at No. 2.
KRLD's Chris Sommer took a deeper look at the new national report as he spoke with UWPHI Research and Analytic Scientist Nicholas Schmuhl.
