Students at the University of Texas had been scheduled to go back to class on Jan. 18 but UT President Jay Hartzell sent a letter to all faculty members asking them to switch to online classes until Jan. 31 because of the spread of COVID-19.
His letter said that teachers could still hold classes in person if they want to, but they would need to supplement that with online instruction.
The campus is not officially being closed. Hartzell says that students should get a COVID-19 test 72 hours before returning to campus.
