The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch Tuesday night for most North Texas counties that will be in effect from 6 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday at 6 p.m.
The warning applies to Collin, Dallas, Delta, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Fannin, Grayson, Hamilton, Hill, Hood, Hopkins, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Lamar, Rockwall, Somerveil and Tarrant counties.
The warning starts at 3 p.m. for Cooke, Eastland, Jack, Montague, Palo Pinto, Parker, Stephens, Wise and Young counties.
Anderson, Freestone, Henderson, Navarro, Rains, Red River and Van Zandt counties are under a Winter Storm Watch.
According to the National Weather Service, the affected areas could see up to two inches of snow and ice of up to three-tenths of an inch in thickness.
Poor road conditions and localized power outages due to tree limbs breaking will likely cause the greatest impacts, according to the National Weather Service.
They also warn that along with the ice and snow, heavy winds could disrupt power supplies, and could cause hypothermia.
