The longtime question of who has the best wireless coverage may finally be answered. The Federal Communications Commission has created an interactive map that compares the four most prominent providers, AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and USCellular.
The map shows that Verizon and AT&T have the most coverage, but it appears that Verizon fares a bit better out west. T-Mobile covers most of the country but has a big hole over Nebraska. UScellular’s coverage is easily the lightest. However, it does have a strong stretch from Wisconsin to Oklahoma.
“Specifically, it shows where customers can expect to receive 4G LTE broadband service at a minimum user download speed of five megabits per second (5 Mbps) and a user upload speed of one megabit per second (1 Mbps),” the FCC’s website says.
The map breaks down 4G LTE data coverage by each provider, giving consumers an idea of what carrier will give them the best coverage based on where they live.
To use the map, zoom in on your location or type in your address. The “Layers” tab can be used on the right side of the map to toggle between providers or compare them on top of each other. It also shows voice and text coverage.
