It's Labor Day 2021 and organized labor says the future for laborers in the U.S. is good despite some challenges.
There are 5,000 union workers who build GM's SUVs at the Arlington Assembly plant. And there's little question the role of labor is different now than it was, even five years ago. Robots are doing more work and people are working more from the home.
Just ask United Auto Workers Local 276 President Mike Cartwright who mentioned the switch to electric vehicles among the many changes they've had to adjust to.
He says when the company succeeds the worker succeeds. Cartwright considers the Biden administration more friendly to Labor saying the President mentions labor far more than President Trump did.
