Our App today is called PlantNet. This is an app for anyone that has a green thumb or wants to. You can find out what's growing in your yard with a simple photo. It's like your own plant expert right there in your phone.
It can identify just anything that grows in the ground. You can also use the app on any green thing in any neighborhood parks or gardens as well. The main purpose of the app is part of a scientific research project, so the makers need more photos of greenery that you see in nature wherever you live. They want plants that are growing in the wild. Literally, any green thing you come across.
They also want as many detailed shots as you can get, down to the thorns, leaves, and flower buds. Right now, they have about 20 thousand different kinds of plants in the database. They have a goal of 360 thousand.
You're helping the cause of science every time you use the app. PlantNet is a free app on iTunes and Android.
