Some people just aren't getting the message about taking horse and cow deworming drugs in their efforts to fight against COVID-19.
The National Poison Data System reports there has been a 245 percent increase in overdoses of Ivermectin because people are treating themselves with the animal form of the drug.
Even in humans, Ivermectin is used to treat head lice and scabies. It's not recommended as a treatment for COVID-19.
Poison control centers reported more than 1,100 exposure cases between January and August. The CDC says doctors have written up almost 90,000 prescriptions per week in the middle of last August. Before the pandemic, that number would have been 3,600.
