Former President Donald Trump would not win the Republican Presidential nomination for 2024 in a hypothetical matchup with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, according to the latest polling by the Wall Street Journal.
Released Wednesday, the new numbers showed DeSantis would get 52% of the Republican vote in a primary situation while Trump would receive just 38%.
That’s a 14-point lead for the Florida governor.
The polling reflects the same sentiment as another poll released Tuesday from USA Today and Suffolk University.
That survey had DeSantis leading Trump by an even larger margin, 23 points.
“Republicans and conservative independents increasingly want Trumpism without Trump,” said Suffolk University Political Research Director David Paleologos.
The newest numbers arrive just as Trump had teased a “major announcement” on social media that turned out to be a line of digital trading cards depicting the former President as a superhero and retailing for $99 apiece.
