The average American parent will spend more money on their kids' back to school shopping this year.

A new survey from a shopping site finds parents will spend around 850 dollars this year. That's up almost 20 percent, compared to last year, where most children had to deal with virtual learning thanks to the pandemic.

Most parents say they'll be shopping for new clothes for their kids, as well as school supplies and backpacks.

They also say they're spending more than an hour looking online for the best deals on all their back to school shopping lists.

A lot of parents say they'll even use "back to school" as an excuse to buy stuff for themselves. Top items for them: clothes, shoes, self care, and wine.
