It's a trend that's growing among Americans of retirement age. They decide to see the world and explore new vistas in other countries, and then stay there.
Social Security Administration says more than 750,000 Americans are getting their benefit checks sent to them overseas. That's up from 413,000 from just a few years ago.
The State Department says five million people have retired and left the country. One of the reasons: the cost of life in those foreign lands is a lot lower.
One of those ex-pats is Lori Kostiuk. She and her husband retired, and moved to Portugal and spoke to 1080 KRLD about it.
