As employers continue to issue their own vaccine mandates to match the ones issued at the federal level, could the unvaccinated be in danger of losing their employment? And should they?

A new poll endeavors to answer at least the second question.

The Convention of States Action partnered with the Trafalgar Group for a survey that showed that 65% of Americans don’t believe the unvaccinated should lose their jobs, with 22.2% saying they should and 12.8% responding that they were unsure.

When broken down by political preference, it’s not surprising that Republicans were the group overwhelmingly against unvaccinated Americans getting fired since they’re also overwhelmingly the most unvaccinated group. 83.5% of Republican voters in the survey said vaccination mandates should not lead to job loss.

Of the independent voters polled, 63.6% said the unvaccinated should keep their employment, almost exactly mirroring the broader results of the poll.

As for Democrats, less than half thought vaccination status should not go hand-in-hand with employment status: 47.9% said unvaccinated Americans should not be subject to vaccination-based firings. 38.4% believed they should (compared to 15.5% of independents and 9.7% of Republicans).
