Former Texas Ranger player Tom Grieve’s “remarkable” 55-year career will be celebrated tomorrow just before the 1:35 p.m. game against the Cleveland Guardians at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
A press release from Major League Baseball said the Texas Rangers plan to honor Grieve with a pre-game ceremony. He is retiring after a career that has included positions as a professional baseball player, executive and broadcaster with the Senators/Rangers franchise.
Celebrations for Grieve include: a giveaway of 10,000 bobblehead dolls and players in retro uniforms harkening back to the 1970s and 1980s.
A proclamation by the city of Arlington declaring Sept. 25 as “Tom Grieve Day,” will also be presented by Mayor Jim Ross, as well as the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation’s presentation of the University Little League of Fort Worth grant in Grieve’s name.
Grieve will give a ceremonial pitch and NFT digital collectables honoring the former Ranger will debut Sunday.
