Multiple outlets this week noted that former First Lady Melania Trump did not accompany her husband to his first 2024 campaign events in New Hampshire and South Carolina over the weekend.

Where was she?

According to Express, the outlet contacted Trump’s campaign team about Melania’s absence but had not published a reply as of Monday. SheKnows also reported that none of Trump’s family attended the campaign events.

Both outlets said that people were asking about the former first lady on Twitter. Conservative author Brigitte Gabriel also tweeted about people missing Melania being in the White House on Sunday.

Reuters described both kick-off events as “low-key” and Axios said the New Hampshire meeting was a gathering of around just 400 people in a high school.

“The most organized show of Trump support was about a dozen fans standing outside the parking lot, who weren’t credentialed for the event,” said the report. During his speech, Trump mentioned the former first lady while sharing memories of flying on Air Force One, per a video shared by RSBN.

“We have five telephone operators,” he said to laughter from the crowd. “I might make one call. I’ll call our first lady: ‘everything good, okay,’ boom.”

Although she wasn’t at the events over the weekend, Melania was by Trump’s side in November when he announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. She told Breitbart News shortly after the announcement that she supported the campaign.

“I support my husband’s decision to run for president of this wonderful Nation,” she said, per the outlet. “His achievements during his administration had a great effect on all of us, and he can lead us toward success and prosperity again.”

Melania was also at a New Year’s Eve event at Mar-a-Lago.

On the former first lady’s website, the last item filed under “communiqués” was a statement from July regarding the Jan 6. Capitol riot.

“I was fulfilling one of my duties as First Lady of the United States of America, and accordingly, I was unaware of what was simultaneously transpiring at the U.S. Capitol Building,” said the statement.

According to testimony from Kellyanne Conway gathered by the House panel investigating the riot and cited by Business Insider, Melania is the only person who Donald Trump fears. In September, Audacy reported on transcripts from “The Divider”, a book by New York Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker and New Yorker staff writer and CNN global affairs analyst Susan Glasser, that indicated Melania was concerned with how her husband handled the COVID-19 pandemic.

That month, Sean Hannity’s website published an op-ed by Melania on the importance of education. She also visited California in December for events, according to a California Globe article Melania shared on Twitter.

Her most recent tweet was from a little over two weeks ago. It was a retweet from USAMemorabilia – which produces NFTs such as the “POTUS TRUMP NFT” collection – in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Melania has gone weeks between tweets in the past.
