A Houston area mother has been arrested after police say she dangled her four-month-old son out of a third-story apartment window.

Court records show that the authorities received multiple calls that the woman, Gre’Ondria Whitfield, 23, was threatening to kill her child while holding him from her apartment window last Friday.

Officials said that witnesses were pleading with her to stop, but one neighbor who claimed to have seen the incident, and talked with ABC13, said that things got violent when they tried to step in.

“She came back out with a gun and the baby. And that’s when we all were like, ‘Oh, shoot, we gotta take care of our safety.’ We backed up a little bit, but we still had eyes on her, but we didn’t want to do too much to antagonize her more. She was so irrational, so we just waited for the cops,” he said.

Whitfield was charged with child endangerment and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the incident, the Harris County Constable’s Office shared.

Constable Mark Harman released a photo of Whitfield dangling her son out of a window that investigators claim was on the third story of an apartment building.

Whitfield remains in custody at the Harris County Jail, court records show. She is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Tuesday.
