The Biden administration is again urging courts to step in and suspend a new Texas law that has banned most abortions in the state since early September.
The latest request came Monday night from the Justice Department. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated the Texas law last week after a federal judge halted the law for a brief 48-hour window last week. The Justice Department is appealing that decision.

The court is asking for a response from the Texas Attorney General's Office by Thursday. It's not clear what the court will do next, but there could be another attempt by Justice Department to have the U.S. Supreme Court weigh in.
