The legal fight to end the Texas six-week abortion ban appears to have stalled. Abortion providers in that state are now looking to the U.S. Senate for help.

The Whole Woman’s Health lawsuit against the Texas Heartbeat Act, also known as Senate Bill 8, was so gutted in scope by the U.S. Supreme Court, the Center for Reproductive Rights attorney arguing the case, Marc Hearron now says their case no longer stands a chance of blocking the law.
Hearron said their only hope is on Monday’s vote by the U.S. Senate.
"The Women's Health Protection Act would enshrine federal statutory protection for the right to abortion in the federal statutes, and that would give us a tool to fight back against state laws like SB8," Hearron said.
The Texas six-week abortion ban has now been in place for six months.
