The extreme heat that is roasting North Texas has proven fatal for an out-of-state lineman working in East Texas helping to get power restored.
Reports say the unidentified 35-year-old man came from West Virginia to help in the effort to turn the electricity back on in Harrison County, where Marshall is the county seat.
KETK television reports that the lineman told co-workers he was feeling badly after a long day of work.
Justice of the Peace John Oswalt says they took him back to the hotel for a medical evaluation, rehydration and a cold shower. He said he was feeling better, and was left alone to rest.
When the lineman's roommate returned, he found the man on the floor and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy will be conducted. Judge Oswalt calls it a "tragic incident."
