(HOUSTON) - Houston police are searching for a man caught on camera during racist, antisemitic tirade directed at an interracial couple in southwest Houston.

Andy Tran recounted the incident recently during an interview with KPRC-TV.

“We saw him kind of coming toward us but we didn’t think anything of it. He’s just another walker in the morning. Suddenly, we just started hearing screaming,” Tran said.

The unidentified man then started hurling racial slurs toward the couple, completely unprovoked. Tran says he, his fiancé, and their two dogs continue to walk ahead, but the man continued to follow.

That's when Tran decided to pull out his phone and record the encounter, which he later shared on social media as well as with the Houston police.

“I could tell he was a little unhinged. There was something wrong,” Tran said. “He was threatening to beat me,” said Tran, a Houston native, and Army veteran.

Tran also mentioned his military training help him decide to remove himself from the situation and attempt to de-escalate.

“We want this out but we have to identify it first and these people are coming out of the woodwork, I guess, which helps in identifying them,” he said.

Regardless of the hateful slurs thrown at the couple, Tran says he ultimately wants the suspect to get some form of help if caught.

“It happens and hopefully he can get some help, maybe open his eyes,” he said.
