We can thank the south winds off of the Gulf of Mexico and the recent rain for our increase in humidity for the next several days across north Texas. This will keep the temperatures down to below the 100° mark. However, a very different story to our west and south of DFW.

A strong ridge of high pressure centered over west Texas will cause temperatures to skyrocket to near or record-breaking levels all week long! Check out some of these temperatures (GRAPHICS).

Heat advisories are in orange and excessive heat warnings are in the pink color.

If you live or are traveling to these areas across the state this week, please stay hydrated. Also, make sure you keep a case of water in your vehicle in case you get stranded for an extended. of time. Also make sure you have a power bank charger with you in case you break down, just in case you have a low battery on your cell phone and have to make an emergency call.

It's also a good idea to have your car battery tested and that you have plenty of fluid in your radiator. Also, make sure your tire pressure is where it needs to be as well. General maintenance to your vehicle should always be done, but especially in extreme hot or cold weather.
