Lufkin Police seek assistance in double murder investigation

Police in the East Texas city of Lufkin are seeking a suspect in a double murder investigation.

In this case, they know the suspect's identity. He's Michael Rodriguez whom police call a violent criminal with 18 arrests in Angelina County alone. These include charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance, DWI, and engagement in organized criminal activity.

The victims were 77-year-old Cecil Sheffield and 68-year-old Carolyn Price who were found dead by a family member.

Police spokesperson Jessica Pebsworth said: "This is what happens when our justice system is out of control."

Police say Rodriguez is considered armed and dangerous and anyone who encounters him should call 911.
