Seven wildfires remain active in Texas this morning, a sharp drop from last week when as many as 20 were burning out of control.

The biggest one right now is the Throckmorton County Ranger Creek Fire which has charred more than 3,200 acres. It is now considered 95 percent contained.

Conditions are much better to start the week. The Texas A&M Forest Service says a decrease in fire weather is noted by a subtle increase in gulf surface moisture from last Friday through this Wednesday and should keep significant fire potential in the low to moderate range for these regions.

Only about two dozen Texas counties are in high fire danger today.
