Governor Abbott & lawmakers address Uvalde school shooting

Governor Gregg Abbott was joined by several congressmen in addressing the Robb Elementary School shooting that took place in Uvalde, Tuesday. The conference took place at Uvalde High School at 12:30 on Wednesday.

Those who joined the governor included Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dade Phelan, Senator John Cornyn, Senator Ted Cruz, Congressman Tony Gonzales, State Representative Tracy King, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Steve McCraw, Texas Education Agency (TEA) Commissioner Mike Morath, Uvalde Police Chief Daniel Rodriguez, Uvalde School District Police Chief Pete Arredondo, and other local officials.

Texas lawmakers were quick to issue public comments after the shooting at a Uvalde elementary school that left 19 children and two adults dead.

From Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) to his Democratic challenger in the gubernatorial election to Texas' two U.S. Senators and the Congressman who represents Uvalde, here are the reactions from some of the state's elected leaders.
