A Collin County man has become the latest to be snared by the FBI in the January 6th riot at the US Capitol.
Officials say Mathew DaSilva, a former U.S. Navy veteran, is accused of being in the front line of the insurrection attempt in Washington D.C.
According to court filings, Lavon resident DaSilva is now facing eight charges including being in the front line of the fight to overrun US Capitol police and to illegally enter the federal building on January 6th.
The complaint says an anonymous tip led the FBI to compare pictures of DaSilva to other photographs and images on social media. Those pictures and video were shown to at least two people who know DaSilva and they were able to confirm his identity.
The FBI says DaSilva was in front of the crowd fighting Capitol police, pushing and pulling their protective shields.
While DaSilva had long hair in pictures from the riot and from his drivers licence, the FBI says he shaved his face and head when he returned to north Texas.
DaSilva becomes the 16th suspect from the Dallas-Fort Worth area to face charges from the riot.
