The Texas Division of Emergency Management is preparing for the possibility of wildfires this week.
Dry and windy conditions are raising the danger of wildfires in the Texas Panhandle, parts of the South Plains, and West Texas. The Texas A&M Forest Service has sent nearly 50 firefighters and more than a dozen fire engines into those areas as a precaution.
The state also has more than 150 firefighters and medical personnel on standby in case they're needed. Governor Greg Abbott is urging people to pay attention to any new weather developments.
