Texas’ two senators voted against the Inflation Reduction Act, a major Democratic bill with key focuses on climate change, tax reform, and healthcare.

Senator John Cornyn says the bill would actually have the opposite effect of what it intends to fix.

"It's called an Inflation Reduction Act when nobody believed in the near term it's going to have a single impact at all on inflation," Cornyn said. "It may actually make inflation worse. So it's not an Inflation Reduction Act, it's really an insult to the intelligence of the American people."

The bill aims to raise billions in federal revenue by establishing a 15 percent minimum corporate tax and allowing Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices.
