Inflation hits different places around the county in different ways. And if you're looking for the cheapest places to live in America, just look to Texas and two other states.

Kiplingers put together its list of the 25 cities out of 267 areas where the cost of living is at the lowest level in the US.

Only Texas, Tennessee, and Alabama had more than one city on that top 25. Kalamazoo, Michigan finished first on the chart. The cost of living there is 24 percent lower than the national average.

Texas puts Harlingen and McAllen in second and third place at just over 23 percent. McAllen has one of the largest poverty rates though in the US at 28 percent, while it's 27 percent in Harlingen. Amarillo lands in fifth place, thanks to its cheaper housing costs. Texarkana is 14th out of 25.
