Senator John Cornyn of Texas says the rich stand to receive big tax breaks in the estimated $2 trillion social spending and climate bill passed by the house.

Senator Cornyn pointed to a Washington Post story that says the second-biggest item in the bill would be state-and-local tax breaks, or "SALT" exemptions, amounting to $285 billion.

"Blue state millionaires can't expect my constituents to subsidize their tax bills," Cornyn said. "They need to either pay their taxes, or maybe they need to decide to move to someplace where they're not taxed at such a high rate."

In a statement released on his website, Cornyn went on to say: "This is a reckless tax-and-spending spree that will benefit the wealthiest of Americans at the cost of working families. The last thing we need to do is to line the pockets of wealthy Americans while driving up the cost of the middle class."

The senate is expected to vote on the bill before Christmas.
