It got a little rough late yesterday evening across north Texas. There were numerous severe thunderstorm warnings that produced a few 60+ mph wind gusts. A 70mph wind gust was measured at DFW Airport a little before 10:00 p.m. There were also a couple of tornado warnings to the south of DFW, but nothing touched down.
A weak cold front has now pushed through north Texas, giving us a northerly wind... drying the air out significantly. Today will be a dry day with plenty of sunshine. Highs will be cooler with readings warming into the lower 80s.
Tonight we drop into the upper fifties to low sixties under a fair sky.
Rain chances return tomorrow as the front that's now to our south lifts back to the north as a warm front. A few strong storms are possible, but nothing severe is expected. High temperatures will reach the mid eighties.
Shower and thunderstorm chances continue into Wednesday and Thursday. Some of the rain on Thursday could be heavy at times. Afternoon highs will be in the low eighties.
By Friday, the strongest cold front of the fall season arrives. Right now it looks like it'll move through by late afternoon, clearing us out and cooling us off significantly into the weekend. High temperatures Saturday and Sunday will be in the low to mid seventies with morning lows in the upper forties to low fifties. It's about time!
