Crews from the National Weather Service spent Wednesday surveying damage from Tuesday's severe weather in North Texas. They identified 14 tornadoes and expected to find evidence of more Thursday.

"I spent the afternoon in Lamar County, west of Paris, where we had an EF-2 tornado put down a five-mile-long track," said Meteorologist in Charge Tom Bradshaw with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

The National Weather Service identified six tornadoes in Tarrant County, including two EF-1 tornadoes in Grapevine. Crews will visit Parker County Thursday to survey damage there.

While crews do rely on pictures, video, witness reports, and radar data in making their determinations, they also benefit from seeing the storm damage in-person.

"North Texans are actually a pretty tidy lot," Bradshaw said. "They like to get things picked up pretty quickly. 12, 18, 24 hours after an event, a lot of times...a lot of it has been picked up. We have to go back and look at pictures that were taken right after the event, or videos that people took, or drone footage that was shot right after the event."
