I'm tracking a cold front this morning that's about 100 miles away from DFW. As this front glides through the area by late morning and early afternoon, widespread showers and thunderstorm activity will break out across parts of north Texas. The greatest threat for severe weather will be along and south and east of a Paris to Rockwall to Hillsboro line. All facets of severe weather are possible. Areas northwest of this line may see rain, but the severity will be low. Radar trends will tell all.
By mid afternoon, the rain will have cleared north Texas and cooler drier air will filter in. Decreasing clouds with highs near 80 today.
Tonight we'll enjoy a fair sky and cool temperatures. Morning lows will drop into the mid to upper fifties. Afternoon highs tomorrow will reach the mid eighties with low humidity and light wind.
This weekend and into midweek next week, a taste of summer grips the area. Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper nineties. South wind will gust as high as 30mph.
The heat will continue through at least midweek next week. There's also a slight chance for a few late day showers and storms on Monday and Tuesday, but most stay dry. Afternoon highs will remain in the low to mid 90s. A south wind will gust as high as 30 mph.
