Believe it or not, we are a few degrees cooler this morning then we have been the past couple of mornings. We can thank the slightly lower dewpoints (mid 60s). It's these slightly lower dewpoints that have erased the Heat Advisories for now.
We continue to be on the eastern fring of a large area of high pressure in the upper levels that stretches from the desert southwest, all the way up into Montana and back through the lee side of the Rockies. This being said, afternoon highs will flirt with the century mark through the rest of the week. Absolutely no rain is in the forecast either.
Your weekend looks sunny and hot as well, with readings in the mid to upper nineties. Speaking of the weekend, a big cluster of showers and storms continues to slowly get its act together in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center now gives this a 70% chance of becoming a named storm, which would be Claudette by late this week. As of now, this will have no impact on our weather in north Texas. In fact, latest data is showing that if something does form, it's circulation will make landfall somewhere between Louisiana and the panhandle of Florida by Sunday.
What it may do for us is open the gates for a cold free to slowly sag towards the Red River Valley next week. If this does occur, are rain chances will increase next week, with slightly cooler temperatures.
In the meantime, stay cool, hydrated, and please make sure your pets have a cool place to hang out during peak heating hours. Also, beat the heat, check the back seat!
