Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Las Vegas Metro Police were involved in two separate shootings on Tuesday morning.
The first incident occurred around 7:30 at an apartment complex on Russell west of 215.
Metro went to the complex on reports of a loud argument in one of the units. Police say that when they located the apartment and knocked on the door, a woman answered. That’s when officers say they saw a man in the apartment that they say was pointing a gun in their direction.
Officers then fired at the man, striking him. The man was taken to a hospital, but later died from his wounds. The woman wasn’t hurt.
The second shooting happened around 9am at an apartment complex near Sunset and Sandhill. LVMPD said that one of their Constables had gone to an apartment with a maintenance man to serve an eviction notice on the unit’s resident, and were attacked by the resident with a machete.
The constable fired his weapon, striking the resident, with other Metro officers then arriving at the scene to take the man into custody.
The constable, maintenance worker, and apartment resident were all taken to a hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The names of the officers involved, as well as the suspects, have not yet been released.
