PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — This weekend on The KYW To-Do List: Stroll along Germantown Avenue for landscaping and gardening tips, celebrate Children’s Day at Shofuso, or snap pics of nature in your neighborhood.

NATURE 

EVENT: City Nature Challenge 2021

DATE: April 30 to May 2

WHERE: Anywhere outside in Philly

DETAILS: Walk around your neighborhood and snap photos on your phone to help identify different plants, animals and fungi. Discover the nature around you and learn how to make the environment a better place. All you need to do is download the iNautralist app.

PRICE: Free

EVENT: Sky and River Day

DATE/TIME: Saturday, 8 to 9:30 a.m. and 10 to 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: Penn Treaty Park, 1301 N. Beach St., Fishtown

DETAILS: In partnership with the City Nature Challenge, The Friends of Penn Treaty Park is hosting a kid-friendly day of fishing and bird-watching. Children will be provided with a free fishing rod, tackle/boxes, and a set of binoculars to bring home.

EVENT: Arbor Day at Andalusia Historic House

DATE/TIME: Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHERE: Andalusia Historic House, Gardens and Arboretum, 1237 State Road, Andalusia

DETAILS: Celebrate Arbor Day with a tree walk alongside the Delaware River. Stroll along the formal gardens and bring a lunch to enjoy while you view the native woodlands.

PRICE: $15 with registration

KID-FRIENDLY

EVENT: Rothman Orthopaedics Roller Rink opens

DATE: Opens on Friday

WHERE: Dilworth Park, 1 S. 15th St., Center City (West Side of City Hall)

DETAILS: Just in time for the beautiful weather, a roller rink is coming to Dilworth Park. Book a session in advance online to enjoy a limited-person skate session.

PRICE: $12 for adults, $8 for kids; $5 for skate rentals

EVENT: 2021 Children’s Day

DATE/TIME: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

WHERE: Shofuso Japanese Cultural Center, Horticultural and Lansdowne drives, Fairmount Park

DETAILS: Japan’s national holiday, Children’s Day, celebrates health, happiness and family unity. Come out to Shofuso for festive on-site displays of Japanese samurai armors (kabuto) and carp streamers (koinobori).

PRICE: $12 for adults, $8 for kids

MARKETS

EVENT: Home and Garden Stroll

DATE/TIME: Sunday, 11 a.m. to  5 p.m.

WHERE:  7600 to 8600 blocks of Germantown Avenue, Chestnut Hill

DETAILS: Need help landscaping your garden? More than 50 vendors will be in attendance with garden displays, heirloom plants and more.

PRICE: Free to attend

EVENT: Fairmount Flea Market

DATE/TIME: Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

WHERE: 2201 Fairmount Ave., Fairmount

DETAILS: With more than 100 vendors, you’ll find everything from vintage fashion or antiques at this flea market that surrounds the Eastern State Penitentiary.

PRICE: Free to attend
