PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham has said he wants to make it to 15 seasons in the NFL. Now entering his 12th — and as the longest-tenured player on the Birds — Graham made it clear he never wants to put on another uniform.
“I don’t want it to say any other team other than the Eagles on my Wikipedia,” Graham laughed on NBC Sports Philadelphia’s “Takeoff with John Clark” podcast.
Graham said he can see himself retiring as an Eagle.
“When it comes to when that time do come, if they don’t want me, they ain’t ready to give me another year, then I’ll probably be done because I love it here,” he added.
It wasn’t smooth sailing for the 2010 first-round pick initially. He took a while to earn a significant role on the team — something that wasn’t guaranteed once the franchise was in the Chip Kelly era.
Graham has previously said that if it wasn’t for outside linebacker Travis Long suffering a significant injury, he likely would have been let go.
If that happened to Graham, he might never have strip-sacked Tom Brady in Super Bowl LII — arguably the greatest defensive play in franchise history.
Despite early adversity, Graham has made it to his 12th year. Even if he doesn’t reach 15, he implied that would be it for his playing career. The 33-year-old Detroit native doesn’t want any other NFL team to share that page with his beloved Eagles.
