PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Casey Fahy was a standout baseball player at Gloucester Catholic High School and the University of Delaware.
The Clayton, New Jersey native spent 13 years as a scout for the Kansas City Royals, before taking his current position as the Director of Baseball Development for the Appalachian League.
Fahy described his life in baseball, including the struggle that the life of a scout can bring.
“Typically you're in hotels anywhere from 150 to 170 nights a year driving anywhere from 40,000 to 50,000 miles a year, bouncing around to different ballparks. Anybody who's a baseball fan knows it's not the quickest and easiest game to watch sometimes,” said Fahy.
“Sometimes that becomes a grind just watching the game itself focusing on certain players, or sitting around in the ballpark waiting for a reliever to come in.”
You can listen to Casey Fahy talk about more of his life in baseball, including some of his favorite memories from his days with the Delaware Blue Hens, by checking out the latest episode of the KYW Newsradio original podcast “1-On-1 with Matt Leon."
