Jalen Hurts among six Eagles picked as captains for 2021 season

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A few Eagles will be wearing a “C” on their jerseys for the first time starting this season.

The team named its six captains for 2021: quarterback Jalen Hurts, center Jason Kelce, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, defensive end Brandon Graham, safety Rodney McLeod, and linebacker Alex Singleton.

Rookie head coach Nick Sirianni said the players voted for them.

“Everywhere I’ve been, the players have voted for it because they got the pulse of the locker room,” he said. “They’re the ones in there.

“Those were the six that got the most votes. No surprise to me. Those guys have been great leaders since I’ve gotten here, and they’ve been great leaders in the past. So, really excited for them to lead our football team.”

Cox and Kelce are permanent captains for the fourth time. This is Graham’s third time and McLeod’s second. Hurts and Singleton are first-time captains.
