Amid disappointing season, Flyers will not raise prices for most season ticket seats

Flyers have begun surveying season ticket members to gauge experience

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — In an email to season ticket holders, the Philadelphia Flyers have announced that, for the third season in a row, there will be no increase in season ticket prices for non-premium seats, which they say is nearly 90% of Wells Fargo Center.

The announcement comes amid a disappointing season. As All-Star Game MVP Claude Giroux put it over All-Star weekend: "It's been a roller coaster kinda year, so it hasn't been that fun."

Flyers Governor Dave Scott explained the decision in an official statement.

"From COVID shutdowns to disappointing results on the ice, our fans have been through a lot over the last couple of years, but they’ve stuck with us, so there won’t be any price increases on any non-premium season tickets for 2022-2023 season," Scott said.

“There’s no denying that we’ve seen real financial impacts over the last couple of seasons, but at the end of the day, this franchise is about our fans, our winning tradition, and honoring the proud legacy of this organization."

But it seems like fewer and fewer fans are actually sticking with the Flyers.

Attendance at games has been thin. Empty seats in photos on social media speak for themselves. You don't need to be an expert to deduce that it’s related to the output on the ice.

The Flyers are 17 points back for the last playoff spot in the East, putting them on track to miss the playoffs in two consecutive seasons for the first time since 1994. They need an absolutely epic run to avoid it.

Meanwhile, the Flyers have begun to send their season ticket holders a survey every other week to gauge the fan experience and identify areas where changes are necessary.

The survey asks fans to rate 12 elements of their experience — including parking, concessions, merchandise selection, customer service and cleanliness — on a scale of 1 to 5.

The survey also asks season ticket members to rate how likely they are to recommend a Flyers game to friend.

No doubt, the team’s record this season might have an influence on survey results.
