The Phillies have reached an agreement with outfielder Odubel Herrera to bring him back to the club, according to multiple reports — first reported by Matt Gelb of The Athletic.

Herrera's deal is reportedly a Major League contract and he is expected to be a part-time player for the Phillies, potentially as a platoon situation in center field with Matt Vierling.

Herrera, 30, has spent his entire MLB career with the Phillies, which spans six seasons and 755 games.

Herrera, a lifetime .274 hitter, made the All-Star in 2016 slashing .286/.361/.420 with 15 homers, 49 RBIs, 25 stolen bases and six triples.

Herrera was charged with simple assault following a domestic violence incident in May of 2019. He was placed on administrative leave and the Phillies removed his banners from Citizens Bank Park. Ultimately, the reported victim dropped the charges, but Major League Baseball suspended Herrera for the remainder of that season for violations of the league's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.

Allowing Herrera to return to the team last season was a controversial decision by the organization among the fan base, as is this one, bringing him back once again.

Fans and media expressed their displeasure to bring him back on Twitter.

Herrera played in 124 games last season hitting .260 with 13 home runs and 51 RBIs.
