Tobias Harris knows Sixers fans will also say what they're really thinking, and he's not holding back either.
"Casual Sixers fans, they’ll trade me for a Crumbl cookie," he said. "But at the end of the day, they have to realize that you’re not getting a 6-9 forward back who can damn near shoot 40% from three, guard the other team’s best player, shoot, post up, drive and play 70-plus games a year."
The explosive comments came amid all of the trade rumors surrounding Harris, who is in the final year of a five-year, $180 million max contract, where he is set to make $39 million in 2023-24.
Of course, cookie chain Crumbl had to have a say, joking that if Harris stays with the Sixers, "everyone in Philly gets a free Crumbl cookie."
The bloated contract Harris signed shortly after he came to Philadelphia in 2019 has created heightened expectations and some tension between Harris and the Sixers fan base.
"I believe we have the right talent to be a championship team and we have the right pieces and the right culture," Harris added. "With a new coach, I’m excited for what we’re going to bring to the table."
