The Philadelphia Phillies are going to the World Series.
After an up and down regular season that saw the firing of Joe Girardi, multiple Bryce Harper injuries, and plenty of roster and lineup changes, the Phillies have gotten hot at the perfect time and are now miraculously headed the 2022 World Series after a 4-1 series defeat of the San Diego Padres.
Bryce Harper continues his historic postseason, as he is now 18-43 with six doubles, five homers, and 11 RBI. His fifth homer came in epic fashion.
With Philadelphia trailing 3-2 with one on and nobody out in the bottom of the eighth inning of game five, Harper drilled an opposite field two-run blast to give the Phillies a 4-3 lead and put the team within three outs of their first World Series appearance since 2009.
The Phillies are 5-0 at Citizens Bank Park this postseason after beating the Padres on Sunday to advance to the World Series.
Philadelphia will face the winner of the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros in the World Series. The Astros lead the ALCS 3-0, with Game 4 Sunday night.
