PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One of the top sportswriters in Philadelphia has retired.

Donald Hunt covered sports in Philadelphia for more than four decades, spending the vast majority of that time writing for the Philadelphia Tribune. Hunt officially retired from the paper on Wednesday.
"I really like what I do," he said, "but I felt as though it was time to step away from the daily grind because it was just getting to be a little bit much.
"Then I felt as though it would be a good time for the paper, whatever plans they have, to bring someone on younger that could do some of the things that I've done for 30 years."
Hunt still plans to do some writing. The author of multiple books said he is very interested in writing another one. In addition to his day to day work over the years covering sports throughout the city, Hunt was also behind the push that eventually got Philadelphia basketball legend Wilt Chamberlain immortalized on a pair of U.S. postage stamps in 2014.
He shared what he hopes readers remember from his long career.
“I hope that people remember that I worked extremely hard to get the best story that I could and that I always gave them something that they didn’t know about from before," he said.
Hunt is a member of the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame.
