PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police said Thursday night they were investigating three homicides in a one-hour period. Two of them were within a span of 12 minutes and two miles in North Philadelphia, with one of the victims reportedly being a Lyft driver.
The first deadly shooting happened at 7:32 p.m. near the corner of North 21st Street and Tioga Avenue in Philadelphia's Nicetown neighborhood.
According to police, someone shot a 29-year-old victim twice while he was sitting inside his car. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, but was pronounced dead there.
NBC10 reports that the victim was a Lyft driver.
12 minutes later, someone shot a 31-year-old man multiple times in his chest near the corner of North Orkney and West Somerset streets in the Fairhill neighborhood, according to police.
The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital, but died shortly afterward.

A 52-year-old man was also shot twice during that incident according to police, but he was listen in stable condition at Temple University Hospital.
The third shooting happened at 8:30 p.m. near the corner of Oxford Avenue and Wakeling Street in the Frankford neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia.
Someone shot a man in his 20s multiple times in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said no suspects were initially arrested in any of the cases, and no weapons were recovered from any of the crime scenes. There was no word on any connection between the deadly shootings.
The city is moving closer to 400 people who have been shot and killed this year, the highest total ever at this point in a calendar year, and more than the year-end homicide totals for each of the last 14 individual years.
