22-year-old under arrest for alleged double homicide in Logan

Police say Czar McMichael killed his grandfather, then another man 2 days later

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 22-year-old man is under arrest after authorities say he killed two people, including his grandfather in the Logan section of Philadelphia.

Czar McMichael was taken into police custody Saturday evening, three blocks from his grandfather's home, near North Broad Street and Belfield Avenue.

Investigators said he shot his grandfather Benjamin on Thursday, after the 67-year-old confronted him about the condition of his room.

Around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, two people went to the home to check on the elder McMichael. Investigators said 45-year-old Anthony Ham got into the house through a window, and opened the door for the person accompanying him.

Ham reportedly confronted the younger McMichael, who police said shot Ham several times before running off. The person who came into the home with Ham called police. Minutes later, police found McMichael, after he ran three blocks from the house.

Medics pronounced both Ham and Benjamin McMichael dead on the scene. Czar McMichael faces two counts of murder and other related charges.
