4 dead, 4 wounded after 6 overnight shootings across Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Another weekend in Philadelphia began with violence, as six incidents throughout the city claimed four lives overnight and left four people hospitalized.

It all began just before midnight Friday, when police said two women, ages 43 and 64, were shot outside 3330 North Uber Street in North Philadelphia. Both victims were taken to Temple University Hospital. The 43-year-old woman was listed in stable condition, while the 64-year-old was placed in critical.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, in the Grays Ferry section, two men, ages 30 and 25, were shot multiple times near South Hollywood and Morris streets. Police took both men to Penn Presbyterian Hospital. The 30-year-old was pronounced dead just over a half-hour later. The 25-year-old is in critical condition.

According to police, a 46-year-old man was fatally shot just after 1:30 a.m. in the Elmwood Park area of the city. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead less than a half-hour later. Authorities said a taser was found at the scene.

A 34-year-old man was also shot near Harrowgate Park in Kensington around 3:20 a.m. Authorities said he was found with a single gunshot wound to the head outside the park. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Just after 5 a.m., a 29-year-old was shot in the chest at a Wynnefield gas station, near Wynnefield and Bryn Mawr avenues. He was taken to Lankenau Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Finally, a 49-year-old man was shot in the knee shortly before 7 a.m. in Nicetown, near 19th Street and Erie Avenue. He was taken to Temple University Hospital and is in stable condition.

No arrests have been made in any of the incidents. Over 1,300 people have been shot and more than 330 have been killed so far this year, according to officials.
