ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (KYW Newsradio) — Registration is now open for an Atlantic City football camp run by a home-grown NFL player.
The Abdullah Anderson and Friends Football Camp starts April 22 at Atlantic City High School. It’s a free camp open to players in grades K-12.
Anderson, Washington Commanders defensive tackle and Absegami High School alumnus, started the camp to grow the game and provide opportunities he didn’t have for kids in Atlantic County.
“Saying, ‘look, we come from the same area as you,’ will just help them out tremendously, help them out with their confidence, help them to work harder,” he said.
“The biggest thing about this camp which I like is there is a portion for the younger kids, the K-8,” he added.
Anderson said the younger kids will be taught some basic skills and how to do all around positions.
As for the high school kids, they will help with college recruiting initiatives by hosting a combine-style session a record 40 times so the kids can send those numbers out to college programs.
“That is the big thing with this new generation is going to these camps and putting on a show, making videos and making highlights and being able to have that and bolster their image to these college coaches … That's going to push them forward to have more eyes on them.”
Anderson said there might even be some special guest appearances from his NFL buddies, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible, as space is limited.
