Girl, 13, found safe in New York after being abducted in Berks County

A suspect was arrested following the issuing of an Amber Alert

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities say a missing girl from Berks County has been found safe in New York City after Pennsylvania State Police issued an Amber Alert following her abduction Wednesday, and detectives would soon reunite her with family.

State Police say Janae Kalia-Henry, 13, had been abducted in the area of Schuylkill Avenue in Reading around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Suspect Dwayne Taylor, 47, was found In Brooklyn with the help of the New York Police Department and the FBI, according to Reading Police Chief Richard Tornielli. He remained in custody Wednesday night in New York.

Just after 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, the state said that she was located and safe, canceling the Amber Alert.

Reading Police told NBC10 the abduction was not a random kidnapping.
