PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If you’ve found yourself walking around South Street recently, you might have noticed a new mural.
Located on the side of the 2nd Street consignment shop is a painting of a giant eagle clutching the Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes in his talons while their head coach Andy Reid holds a play card that reads, “Help.”
“The reason why I’m doing this is because it’s so much fun being out on the street, sharing with my neighbors, people I don’t know, cars pulling over,” said Meg Saligman, creator of the mural.
Saligman says the three-day project is well worth it.
“It's a little bit of humor, a little bit of fun, a little bit of classic mural painting cause again it’s a Philly thing.”
And, this isn’t the first time she’s done something like this.
In 2018, she painted a picture of an eagle carrying Tom Brady on her studio wall and that same year, the Eagles won the Super Bowl.
Saligman, being the superstitious fan that she is, decided to keep the tradition going this year by doing another mural.
Kevin Cunningham, an Eagle’s fan, could not help but smile and laugh as we walked by the mural.
“I just thought it was hilarious,” he said. “I love it. It’s funny – it’s very funny. It’s very Philly.”
Other fans say they are looking forward to next week and hope they can visit the mural in celebration of an Eagle’s Super Bowl win.
