SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — President Joe Biden has nominated a well-known lawyer to take over as the U.S. attorney for New Jersey.

Philip Sellinger is a prominent lawyer from North Jersey with extensive trial experience in private practice, both as a prosecutor and as a former assistant U.S. attorney in the early 1980s.
Sellinger is also a well-known Democratic Party supporter. He hosted a fundraiser to help U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez win re-election in 2012 — and the special guest that night was then-Vice President Biden.
He’s helped raise money for many other candidates over the years.
Menendez recommended Sellinger to the president to replace acting U.S. Attorney Rachel Honig. Sen. Corey Booker approved the recommendation.
Gov. Phil Murphy praised the selection, saying Sellinger has a ton of experience at the highest levels of the legal system and he will serve New Jerseyans with honor.
Sellinger will need Senate confirmation before taking the job.
