PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A family is mourning the death of a Rahway, New Jersey woman whose body was found after she and her son were abducted, which prompted an Amber Alert.
In a Facebook post shared early Sunday morning, Karen Uyar said her daughter Yasmine's remains were found in Tennessee. This came after 24-year-old mom and her 2-year-old son Sebastian went missing on Friday.
New Jersey State Police put out an Amber Alert for the boy saying they believed the two to be with his father, 27-year-old Tyler Rios, of Highland Park, New Jersey.
Sebastian was found alive in Monterey, Tennessee on Saturday, but Uyar said she was later notified her daughter's remains were found.
"Please remember she wasn't just a [domestic violence] victim," she wrote. "She was a daughter, sister, mother, aunt and cousin. Her life will be celebrated as her greatest gift to this world."
Rios was arrested by police in Tennessee and remains in custody there, pending extradition to New Jersey and the filing of criminal charges in Union County Superior Court.
