PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are investigating an altercation and possible road rage incident between two drivers that led a vehicle to crash into the 12th Police District building in Southwest Philadelphia.
Lt. Gregory Brown said his department was called out to Southwest Philadelphia just after 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
.
“We got a report of a vehicle [that] struck .. the 12th Police District building,” Brown said about a black SUV that hit the district headquarters on Woodland Avenue.
“The black vehicle, the BMW, allegedly struck the truck somewhere in [Delaware] County, and I guess it ended up in a road rage [situation].”
Brown said the driver of the pickup truck then pursued the SUV.
“I guess he wanted to get some resolutions to it, but evidently it got out of hand,” he said.
Brown explained the black SUV, after crashing into the police building, reversed down the street and continued two blocks to South 65th and Grays Avenue, near Connell Park.
“The believed-to-be-striking vehicle,” said Brown, “is, as you see, upside down.”
The driver of the blue pickup truck then pulled over on the side of the road.
Lt. Brown said the two drivers allegedly got out of their vehicles and started a fight.
Both drivers were examined for injuries at a nearby hospital. Police arrested the driver of the SUV, and investigators questioned the driver of the pickup truck.
